Don't Let The Sun Bug You

Ok, so now we know that the sun can make you act a little crazy from time to time so stop blaming your mother and move on. But, we can help minimize those effects our mental states by not getting caught up in the dramas of headlines of our culture and emotional trappings of the mass media consciousness, i.e. print and broadcast news. Intense media news stories of the latest human calamity, stock market burp or government war drum beating captures even occasional viewers emotions and contributes to elevated levels of stress that reside at both conscious and subconscious levels. Then we wait in fear for the latest update on "the situation". Plus, news updates are sandwiched between station commercial breaks which pander products that inform of us how ill we are and promise to cure everything in our daily lives. The associated product warnings during these commercials sound much more lethal than having the malady. At best, this news-drama/false-remedy cycle is self-perpetuating, morally surrealistic and to a very real extent, draining of our spiritual well being. This is not to say we shouldn't be informed of world events. What is important is not to become so absorbed emotionally with the mass consciousness as to allow the mantra of terror to creep into our psyche.

As noted in the previous sections, the sun affects every one of us. We can individually cope with elevated sunspot activity and the trapping effects of the mass consciousness by recognizing our own empowerment to control our mental emotions and physical health. A good start may be by putting the current problems of the day in perspective and understand that society is not greater than and does not have control of the emotions of us as individuals. Taking or making the personal time to just sit in a quiet state of mind for a half an hour with no outside interferences or taking the time to learn simple meditation techniques will help clear our body of "junk thoughts and feelings" we have collected during the day and allow us to have a much better rest and sleep each night. Meditation can be very beneficial to the body when the chakras are cleansed so balance and calm is restored to the entire body and mind. There are many different teachers and methods of meditation but in the end they all attain the same grounding of the body and spirit. Yoga and Tai Chi are other ways to rise above the stress.

Deep breathing exercises during a personal "time out" will also assist in raising your personal consciousness. Deep breathing allows calmness to return to your body and help provide a doorway to greater personal spiritual awareness. Breathing exercises actually aide in the releasing of electromagnetic energy fields that surround the body. There are specific exercises designed to help accomplish this. I can"t recall who coined the phrase "we do not need to all be Monks but we should all strive to be a little less like Monkeys". In the "Book & CD" section under "Products" the Sounds True Publisher offers self-guided resources for learning deep breathing exercises. Also during this time of growing awareness I have come to understand that sitting with our back to the rays of the sun so the back of our head, pineal gland area, is exposed to the suns direct rays is very beneficial to our energetic development. I have been told that it will be most beneficial between June 2009 and January of 2010. Morning or later in day may lessen effects of sunburns, act accordingly.

A group of scientists at the Institute of HeartMath have been working for the last 17 years in the area of how the heart relates to the brain and vise versa. They say that there is a nervous system pathway that carries signals back and forth from the heart to the brain and that the heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. Their research indicates that our emotions have as much to do with the heart and the rest of the body as they do with the brain. They state that emotions of frustration, anger or worry cause additional stress on our bodies which deplete our energies and affects our general condition of health. They suggest that for our happiness and well-being, it's important that we become aware of our feelings and take charge of our emotional experiences.

There is a free self-test on their website (link below) to quickly see where your stress triggers are and based on your scores, recommendations to better cope with specific areas in you life. On the site is also a free downloadable pdf booklet entitled "The Inside Story". An easy, layman's read into their research which contains a "Freeze-Frame" breathing/relaxing technique which will reduce our inner noise, helping the brain and body work together in harmony. The steps of this tool are simple actions you can take to stop the chaos in your nervous system and quickly feel and perform better. Freeze-Frame allows you to pause the movie of your life so you can step back and get a wider and more balanced view of any situation. Then you can ask yourself, “How could I handle this in a better way?

The sun can play with our heads and we can do something to aid ourselves in relieving those symptoms. But there is another area of concern with elevated Solar Activity that is getting more attention and that is the coincidence of cycles of pandemics and Influenza which coincides with peak sunspot activity. Three Canadian researchers, an astrophysicist, an epidemiologist, and a physician, looked for a correlation between these events. Ken Tapping, a researcher at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in Penticton, and his two colleagues compared historical records of flu pandemics and solar flare activity dating back to the early 1700s (Can. J. Inf. Dis. 2001, 12, in press). The group looked at how closely infectious diseases tracked with the years of peak solar activity and weighted the correlation. They found a definite tendency for pandemics to occur during periods of Solar Maximum, and a statistical simulation suggested that the chance of the cycles being randomly coincidental was less than 2%. Tapping told the National Post, "Even though things like this sound a bit strange at the start, when you look around you find lots and lots of evidence that the sun is playing games in our environment." (Modern Drug Discovery. July 2001)
